We're biased, but this is the good stretch. No high-rises, no boardwalk, no crowd, just hard-packed sand you can walk on for a mile without stepping around anybody. You can drive right onto the beach at the Cubbedge Road ramp if you'd rather not haul chairs. Our favorite thing to do down here is walk south to the inlet in the late afternoon, when the shelling is best and the light goes gold. One serious note, though: don't swim at the inlet itself. The current rips through there fast, there's no lifeguard, and it catches strong swimmers off guard every year. Wade and hunt shells, then swim back up at the beach.
