Where to start 😅 .. I haven’t been to many places that have “wow’d” me from start to finish. Though sacred pepper was the first in a very long time to accomplish that. Wife and I went here for our anniversary and the entire experience from the food, drinks, our server (shawn/sean), atmosphere, simply everything across the board was as perfect as you would hope for from a restaurant. The inside is very beautiful! We started off with a few drinks, an espresso martini and a smoked old fashion then transitioned to beer and a variety of cocktails they have on their menu, all of which were very very good! Then for appetizers we ordered Crab Cakes, Baked Lobster Stuffed Shrimp, and the Crab Corn Chowder. All of which did not disappoint! Then for our entrees i ordered the Deluxe Mixed Grill for myself and my wife ordered the Spinach Pappardelle & Lobster with a Caesar Salad. Again, the food did not disappoint! Far from it! Everything was cooked perfect. I will admit before arriving at the restaurant for the first time I was very skeptical and hesitant only because I dove into the reviews, so I was definitely anticipating bad service (which a good portion of the reviews refer too). Though Im glad I experienced for myself and got my own opinion because fortunately It was the complete opposite, our server (shawn/sean) was excellent!, The server was very nice, but did not ask once if we wanted to refill our drinks. We had no drink for about half our dinner time. Also, I had a lot of food on my plate. They took my plate to the back to box it. I have attached the photo of what it looks like… it is in a tiny box and there is no possible way all of my food made it into the box. It looks very unappetizing in this to go box. The food was good. Playing could be better, but I am no Gordon Ramsey., The food was amazing and the service was even better. Our server Tim was great he was expedient and navigated us through our dining experience. We had several different plates and enjoyed every single one, the small details really made the plates pop!, Food was a hit or miss depending on the dishes but service could’ve been better since I consider this place an upscale restaurant.
Appetizers:
- Oyster Rockefeller: 3/5 oysters were small and I’ve had better oysters rockefeller elsewhere
- Steak Bites: 1/5 not a fan was the steak was hard and chewy, doesn’t taste good either
- Lobster Stuffed Shrimps: 10/10 highly recommend getting this dish as it tasted phenomenal
Main Entree:
- Sea bass: one of the best I’ve had, cooked to perfection and the ginger sauce was just *chef’s kiss*
- Salmon: I stole a bite from my sister’s dish and I think it was meh, nothing special
Dessert:
- Creme brulee: delicious
- Raspberry chocolate molten cake (?): decent, was free because it was my mom’s birthday so no complaints
Overall, would come back just for the sea bass and the lobster stuffed shrimp when I crave them, An arty restaurant with very comfy chairs and delicious food, my favorite dishes being the Ahi Tuna as an appetizer or a bowl. All kind of wines from the old continent to the new world can be found on the card. My in laws like the White Heaven from New Zealand to go with their chilean bass or their lobster parpadelle. They are many happenings there, the " sacrees soirees " as I call them, which are happy hours at 6.30 pm everyday with cocktails or other drinks at special prices. They have girls nights, Ciao Mondays, and even Sacred Sundays sharing menu between 4 and 9 pm just for $24.9 per person. Just have a look on their site! One should book a table online to be on the safe side, even if like me, you sometimes are in for an early dinner. There are benches to sit on outside and inside the one floor building if at 4pm when they have just opened the doors, there is already a queue. One can also order takes out online except on Sundays. They have also a menu for kids. The restaurant is not noisy to me. Even if they sometimes have live music, it is not disturbing when eating. Personnally, I do think it is a good thing to have music. It is the perfect place to invite your friends, family or date. Everything from the decor to the presentation of the dishes is visually pleasant.
The staff is young, dynamic and devoted. They will answer all your questions asap with a smile. The Sacred Pepper is situated 15405 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618. There is a lot of free parking there and spots for handicapped persons. If you are in a wheel chair there is an easy access on the side of the building which is also covered so if it rains you will be protected.
