A lot windy today and the indoor portion of the restaurant was undergoing renovations so we sat at the outside bar. Good draft beer selection. Mango grouper tacos were good, but lots of mango and not as much grouper. Salads were good. We topped one with salmon which was cooked to perfection. The other we topped with chicken which was good if not slightly overcooked. Not many people there. Low season and windy., Visited last week for a wonderful lunch thanks to the great service of Kai, who truly cares and helped make my simple lunch experience better than i could have expected.
The property is beautiful and is going through some renovations but the views, the food, and the drinks were top notch! Definitely worth a stop
Ask for Kai at the lighthouse grill bar!, An excellent choice for dinner. Great staff and service from everyone. Our shrimp appetizer was superb. My scallops were exceptionally well prepared. Great beer and wine list. Walked out to the lighthouse after dinner. Very romantic., Although still undergoing renovations, the outdoor (under cover) seating was lovely.
We had a pre-sunset reservation but the exposure of the venue was towards the north and the setting sun was mostly obscured by the trees on the west edge of the dining area. However, the setting sun did perfectly light up the lighthouse itself during sunset - making for a very nice photo opp.
Our server, Katy, was awesome !! Very helpful and informative with a great personality - would ask to be seated with her again for sure.
We shared the Chopped Salad which we found to be excellent. The Mahi special dinner and the Prime Rib (16 oz) were cooked to perfection and delicious. We would just critique both dishes as lacking in presentation.
Both were more than adequate in the protein portion size and while the Prime Rib was accompanied by au jus, horse radish and mashed potatoes it would have benefited greatly from the addition of even a small addition of a green vegetable, like a few spears of asparagus or green beans. Likewise the Mahi was surrounded by more quinoa blend than one would expect. Cucumber slices adorned the quinoa, some topped with half cherry tomatoes and some with tomato pieces. Again, this dish would have greatly benefitted from the addition of even a small portion of a green vegetable.
To finish, we shared a very nice sized slice of Key Lime pie, which favored being a little more sweet than tart, accompanied by some berries and whipped cream.
All in all a very nice dining experience!, We loved the Lighthouse Grill! It was walking distance from our hotel and was in a super nice location near the marina! It is apart of the Faro Blanco Resort & Yacht Club but the restaurant is open to the public! The atmosphere was great and since it was apart of a yacht club so it was a bit more on the higher end side but we didn't feel out of place in casual attire. There was light music and great lighting, just be careful the flooring is slippery!
The staff (our server was Edwin) was super knowledgable and helpful when asked about the menu, for example, gluten free options or if we could order of the lunch menu and directed us to his favorite choices from both. Everything came out on time and correctly, he was a great server!
The food was also fantastic! We were first given complimentary bread! We ordered the 'Chicken Lollipop' for our appetizer and would recommend 10/10. They had a habanero sauce on them that gave them a good kick. For our entrees we got the skirt steak, which was cooked perfectly, the shrimp scampi and the shrimp BLT salad. Everything was delicious, our only turn off to the salad was the dressing was a bit bland and the smokey margarita was very smokey. We had to add a bit of salt and pepper to the salad to give it some flavor. But the dressing was gluten free!!
Overall, a great restaurant and will definitely be coming back again!
