This is a Florida Keys 5-star..!!
We’ve visited Marathon for over 30yrs, we wrote off Porky’s a few years back, saw the recent good reviews, I am so glad we gave them another try…!!
We visited for lunch on Sunday, no wait, place was half full. Full bar, if that’s what you want.
We had pork and brisket tacos, very good, and much better than other places, full of meat, unique flavor, the sauce that comes with them a little spicy, but also full of flavor.
Like all places in the keys, they go up and down, this place is clearly on the up. New chef or new management, they have it going.
I would recommend this place!!
The parking lot is rock, once inside all one level, no steps, I had no issues accessing. Chairs are a little narrow. The place has a good fishing/snorkeling/island atmosphere. Not the best place for a sunset.
We will have this on our rotation of spots going forward., We've heard about this place for a couple of years and finally decided to check it out. We should have came a long time ago. We were seated immediately, and there were plenty of servers running around. We were a bit overwhelmed when they dropped off 5 different menus. One for the regular fare, a sushi menu, a drink menu, a happy hour menu, and the daily special menu. We selected some of the happy hour dishes. My wife had soup, a half dozen oysters, and I had the chef special tacos and Pork Sliders. Everything was delicious. We topped it off with deep fried key lime pie, which was far better than Kermits, in our opinion. Very moist and light. With a drink each, all of that still came to less than $60. The atmosphere is Key West casual, overlooking a marina., I wanted to like this restaurant. I saw on the menu fried green beans with horseradish sauce. They were so delicious. But for the rest of my lunch I was not happy. They did give me a fat friendly chair, but it was very wobbly. And the bathrooms were problematic. I would not call anything about this restaurant clean. I ordered Mac and cheese which I couldn’t eat because it was grainy., This place is fantastic. Great atmosphere, good service. Very good food. Everything was tasty and fresh. Bread pudding was to die for so don't skip the dessert!, Wow! The spicy mussels on the appetizer menu were fantastic, as was the coconut mojito! Great music and service. Highly recommend
