Definitely a must stop when driving from Miami to Key West. This place embodies what the Florida Keys are. Laid back and yet beautiful at the same time. There's no greater joy than sitting at a high top along the porch rail and watching the fish, the birds, and the boats go by. Grab a cold beverage, an order of the famous Conch Fritters, and just soak it all in. For a real treat, grab an order of wings and toss your bones into the water when done to watch the feeding frenzy as the fish go nuts., A little gem in the rough… we stopped here on a recommendation from some good friends, we were not disappointed. We had peel and eat shrimp and the Mahi Mahi Ruben, delicious. We even loved the little wines they serves, surprisingly good. The atmosphere was great, open air place, rustic decor. Definitely a must stop on your way down to the Keys! We even saw a sailboat coming into dock and dine, bonus!, We couldn’t wait to stop here on our way to key west. We heard the conch fritters were the thing to get. None of our party of 6 have had this delicatessen previously so we have nothing to compare. We were not overly eager to finish them- kind of hard knots inside, but maybe this is normal. I was not encouraged to try conch fritters anywhere else after my experience. My mahi fish tacos were YUM! Key lime pie was YUM!
The mosquitoes were a bit of a problem. They were particularly active when we stopped. Glad we went, nice break in our long ride headed south., Went for the conch fritters after seeing this place recommended over and over and over again as a must-experience on the way down from Miami to Key West. We sat at the bar (right on the water!) and had the fritters of course- and a beer each. The fritter was HUGE - and SO GOOD. It was thick and full of conch, tasted savory and almost had a pancake texture with a crispy outside. I really didn’t think I was going to like it before I tried it- and now I can’t wait to go back and have it again. Shoutout to our bartender Mike for being so casual and friendly!! We also loved being on the water next to the mangroves, some other patrons fed the fish!! Can’t wait to go back!, Great stop for a casual meal on the water. The staff was super friendly and the food was great. The fried and coconut shrimp and the homemade sides were delicious. Recommended the macaroni salad and the mac & cheese. The smoked fish dip was also amazing.
