5/25/24 - Chef Michael's is fantastic! This was our first visit, but we'll definitely return whenever we're in Islamorada. We started with the Lion Fish appetizer because it's an invasive species and we're trying to do our part to help the Florida Keys ecosystem. 😉 It was tasty and the sauce it was served with was amazing. Chef Michael's had five or six fresh fish with five or six preparations to choose from. I went with the mixed nut preparation of the hog fish. It was delicious and again had a perfect dipping sauce with it. My wife selected the Juliette preparation of the triple tail. It had a nice sauce with shrimp and scallops that made for a delicious entree. We finished with their "nearly famous" carrot cake. I think they may have to remove the nearly from the description. I don't love carrot cake, but this was fantastic. Give it a try, but consider sharing because it is a large piece of cake. We've been to several nice restaurants in the Keys, but so far Chef Michael's is the best., I was hoping for some impressive fine dining. Didn’t get it. The conch chowder spiced with almost too much heat. The Pontchartrain hogfish pieces were extremely thin and because of this it was all seasoning. I even asked for the sauce on the side as not to overpower what is usually an outstanding fish. Disappointing to pay almost $50 and not be able to taste such a great fish. The price point gives an expectation of excellence that definitely falls short. No view, fair food, not worth the price point at all., Best restaurant in Islamorada, if your looking for a fancy date night or a place for celebration this is your spot! Incredible fish to choose from & the steak is out of this world. We started with the lion fish and it was incredible! Forget all of the other restaurants around town and put this at the top of the list!, The fresh fish is the standout here. Pick your fish and then your treatment of it. French to creole and everything in between. I went with nut crusted hog fish. @thefloridakeys, Our favorite place to splurge in the keys. We got the shrimp & conch fritter appetizer, seafood pasta, hogfish Juliette, and key lime pie. We’d give 10 stars if we could. All the food is incredibly fresh and comes out perfect. Seafood pasta had almost an entire lobster tail in it. Service was amazing! Food is super high quality for the price. Make sure to make a reservation.
