Used to come here as a child. Came on a visit after many years away. Trees are somewhat recovered from the hurricanes but shade is still in short order. Long distances to actual water so having good shoes is a must, sand is scorching in the sun. Some showers if you look for them and park near them. Few facilities for my preference and $8 per car entry. Bring your own shade, theirs is $40. Still picturesque and lovely clear water (even though there was a lot of sea weed). Went with small children and they had a blast., Beautiful beach and park just outside Miami. It has a cool lighthouse and easy trails. Beach is beautiful and ideal for kids. Everything is nicely arranged and definitely worth seeing. There is one restaurant, but the sandwich I ate wasn't anything special., The beach is long and has areas that are crowded more towards the lighthouse where you can rent umbrellas, a bit further away it's less crowded. The water is a gorgeous turquoise color and clean. When you look in the other direction you can see a silhouette of downtown Miami. It is a family oriented beach. The main attraction is the Cape Florida lighthouse., Only 4 stars as we were on a flying visit & I didn't have time to climb the lighthouse or go into the lighthouse keepers cottage. The setting however is excellent, park & facilities looked great. Some of the lizards were reasonably big, which for me was an exciting bonus, not so for the wife. I just wish we'd had longer to explore the park fully. The $8 car entry is very reasonable & ensured a quieter beach than outside the park where the parking was free., Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is a true gem and definitely deserves a five-star rating! The trails are absolutely stunning, offering beautiful scenic views that are perfect for a leisurely hike or a bike ride. What's even better is that the park is pet-friendly, so we were able to bring our furry friend along for the adventure. The whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable, and we loved every minute of it. If you're looking for a fantastic outdoor spot that welcomes pets and offers amazing trails, this is the place to be!
