My husband and I got done with a cruise for our honeymoon and we don’t fly home until tomorrow morning, so we wanted to check this place out before we leave Tampa. There are a TON of great exhibits to enjoy! We really liked walking around and seeing the all of the different animals! Although it’s mostly aquarium-based, there are several exhibits with animals that aren’t aquatic, such as tortoises, frogs, geckos, lemurs, and snakes. We really liked the digital information signs for the exhibits. We also really liked the interactive touch exhibits, which are the stingrays, anemones/sea stars, and the moon jellyfish!
I think the only downside of this place is the crowds of people. It’s summer and we went on a Saturday, so we understand that it was busy. But there were a LOT of people who were constantly bumping into us, cutting us off, or stepping in front of us after we had been patiently waiting for our turn to see an exhibit up close. We had several children run and cut in front of us or bump into us and the parent would say something like “no” or “wait your turn” but then wouldn’t stop them or do anything to stop them from cutting in front of us. People either had TERRIBLE spatial awareness and/or didn’t care AT ALL that they were being rude.
If we’re ever down in Tampa again, we’ll definitely go back to visit this aquarium, but we will absolutely not be going on the weekend!, We had such a great time here! Lovely time with the family. We spent about 4 hours here, which includes eating lunch and playing in the spray park. The spray park was a nice touch for the kids, and they have shade areas for parents to sit. There was a lot of interactive things for the kids, such as touching sting rays and jelly fish, and the morphd section. There is also water fill stations everywhere so bring a reusable bottle!, Fun place to spend a couple of hours. The splash pad was nice but definitely needs to be updated a bit. One of the fountains was off, and our daughter got her foot caught in it. Other than that, the animals were very cute and looked well taken care of food, and gift shop items were reasonably priced for tourist souvenirs., Visited this place on Father’s Day after stumbling upon it while exploring Water Street. They had a buy-one-get-one offer on tickets, and if you have a Tampa Zoo membership, tickets are 50% off.
This is one of the best aquariums I've seen, and we've visited many around the 🌎. The ecosystem setups are pretty amazing., The staff here was so unimaginably friendly and passionate. Everything was clean and all the animals were cute and interesting! Thursday afternoon there wasn't much of a crowd at all. The gift shop was nice and not too expensive.
