Straightforward place to rent from, really geared towards experienced boaters. The understandably lengthy contract seems to serve as a nice filter to keep the boats in good shape.
Boats are well-equipped, maintained, and accordingly priced for the age and condition of each (i.e. - very fair!). Even the upholstery was in good condition.
Keeping our boat here during the rental period was easy (we didn't have a place with dockage this time).
Some notes: no fuel at their dock, or in their canal. Easy enough for a short stop at KCB or others on the way back.
If docked here the whole time, there is a little bit of no wake canal to get to open water.
However, in times of sketchy weather there are a good number of canals and mangroves to explore and fish.
For a day rental to go snorkeling or diving - Coffins Patch is a straight shot out of their canal. Sombrero is a bit further, but still not a bad ride out.
Thorough and helpful crew here, too.
We will be back., I rented the 25 XS Nautic Star and it was in excellent condition! From fishing to snorkeling to exploring the area everyone had an amazing time. Mason took great care of us and walked me through the operation of the boat and gave some excellent recommendations on where to go. Highly recommend!, Spoke with Wendy, very unfriendly on the phone. I was just inquiring and felt unwanted from the start. Apparently the whole week of Mini lobster season is a 3 day minimum rental when the season is only open for 2 days. She told me no one would rent a boat for one day. Well, you’re wrong Wendy!! Just booked for one day and they were super friendly! After looking at all your bad reviews, I’m glad you pushed me away!! Hope you have a blessed day., Overall pretty good experience. The original boat that we rented was unavailable due to damage from a previous renter, and we got a nice little upgrade at no additional charge. Our boat was perfect for snorkeling and hanging out by the sandbars. GPS, Bluetooth stereo worked great. The boat had some age but you could tell it was well maintained. Very clean, upholstery was perfect, everything worked as it should. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but we had a little bit of heartburn upon returning the boat. The dock attendant blamed us for “nicking up the prop”, thank god we took a photo of the prop before we took the boat out. They also took a photo of it before we took the boat as well.. but instead of looking at their original photo they just said “you aren’t going to like me those morning, I have to change the prop”… I pulled out my photo that I took prior.. zoomed in and literally saw every single nick, chip, scratch, and showed him. They INSISTED that they do not send out boats with chipped up props. He said “ok I will only charge you half, it is missing some paint you can see that”… then said “let me go get my iPad to review the photo I took”…. Moments later “ok I won’t charge you.”
As we were leaving I looked at all of the other boat props and more than half of them were in the same condition. Take my advice, take VERY good photos of the prop before renting. High resolution and get up close at multiple angles. If not, they may blame you for a damaged prop that they sent out damaged & needs replacement. Mind you, this was even after we were raving about the boat rental experience so much that we kept it for another day at a $390 rate.
But, the service other than that was excellent. We would still use them & recommend them. Just like with any rental, just take bunch of photos to cover yourself., Coco's Boat Rentals was a great place to rent from. Helped explain where the best spots were for fishing, snorkeling, and places to avoid. We rented the boat for 10 days and it worked flawlessly the entire time. Long-term price was great as well. Will definitely be a returning customer when we come back down next year!
